Introducing “Cyber Conversations” – Preparing Future Cybersecurity Professionals
Cybersecurity threats are constantly evolving, and staying ahead requires both knowledge and practical experience. Our new initiative, “Cyber Conversations,” is designed to give our cybersecurity students a unique edge.
These complimentary services allow students to assess and improve the cybersecurity readiness of real individuals and organizations. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, including our lead cybersecurity instructor, Dr. John Horn, CISSP, students will use and share a simple checklist reflecting the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards as they engage in conversation about an appropriate or enhanced security posture and offer actionable insights. (Conversations are held via phone or virtual meeting platforms and proprietary information is ever requested.)
This program isn’t just about understanding cybersecurity in theory; it’s about applying those principles in real-world scenarios. You’ll get the chance to tackle genuine security challenges, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend effective solutions.
This hands-on experience is invaluable, preparing you to meet the demands of a fast-paced and ever-changing industry. “Cyber Conversations” bridges the gap between classroom learning and professional expertise, giving you a taste of what it’s like to work in the field. It equips you with the practical skills and confidence needed to excel, ensuring you’re not just ready for a job but for a successful career in cybersecurity.
By engaging in Work Based Learning (WBL) projects, students gain marketable experience that is crucial for their professional growth. These collaborations are not only beneficial for students but also for the organizations involved. Students bring fresh perspectives, innovative solutions, and a willingness to tackle real-world challenges, which can greatly enhance the productivity and creativity of partnering organizations. Meanwhile, organizations get to contribute to the development of future professionals, shaping the talent pool to better meet industry needs.
Furthermore, our long-term strategy includes continuously updating and expanding our curricula to ensure alignment with industry requirements. By supporting our students and collaborating with industry partners, we are creating a robust ecosystem where education and industry needs meet, ultimately empowering students and enriching the workforce.
